New England Fall Championships – Lady Rams Win!

February 29, 2016

Following a less than stellar performance the week before at the Mrs. Hurst at Harvard, the Lady Rams were determined to beat the “curse of the Charles” at the Victorian Coffee Urn, also at Harvard. The “Urn” is the fall NEISA Women’s Championship. Rachel and Hannah were dominant from the start, winning A Division by 21 points. Sarah and Marisa were up and down, but good enough to partner for the win. Courtney was AWESOME as pit crew. She was there and ready to go in at every rotation and took command, making certain that the boat was bailed and telltaled.

This was the first win at a major event for the Rams in recent years. It won’t be the last.

The Schell Trophy, the New England Fall Coed Championship, was held next door at MIT in Flying Juniors and Fireflies. The coed team had a rougher time in the very shifty conditions, finishing a disappointing 15th overall. Sennior Matt Coughlin managed a 12th in A with Kate Nota and Matt Gibbs crewing. Peter Girard and Pat Isherwood skippered in B with Jack Hurley, Sarah Morin and Ellis Havelock crewing. We will be MUCH better in the spring.
