Lady Rams Move on to Finals

May 28, 2015

Yesterday the Lady Rams finished a solid 5th in the Eastern Semifinal Regatta hosted by Salve Regina and Brown in Newport, RI. After a terrific nationals training period, highlighted by two great days training with the Coast Guard team in New London and an awesome day training outside of the Harbor of Refuge in Pt. Judith, the Lady Rams felt pretty good coming into the semis. We had gained great insights on sailing Z-420s and experienced some great open water sailing off Pt. Judith.

The semifinals served up spectacular conditions: SW breeze 8-22 kts, perfect! Rachel Bryer, Hannah Scanlon and Courtney Bombardier handled the A Division assignment, finishing 3rd. Sarah Hermus and Mackenzie Needham shared the skipper responsibilities in B with Marisa Decollibus and Sarah Leonard as forward hands. Together they finished a solid 6th in the 14 team field. This was a great B Division performance for the Rams and marked another step in their rapid progression as a force to be reckoned with.
